About the Event
Enjoy free admission to the Castro Theatre along with complimentary refreshments for a showing of To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar—the first major Hollywood studio film to center on drag queens!
For this historic night, John Newmeyer—LGBTQ community member, philanthropist, and the brother of Julie Newmar—will present a video from Julie created just for this Pride film showing. As Julie, who will soon be celebrating her 90th birthday and who played "Catwoman" in the Batman television series, says of John: "My brother is one cool cat!"
John will be interviewed by double Emmy Award-winning producer, director, and writer Jan Wahl. Her Co-Emcee will be renowned drag artist, LGBTQ community fundraiser, and Absolute Empress Khmera Rouge!
Just by attending you will help to support Equality California and the SF LGBT Center. That's because, thanks to a generous donor, the number of attendees will be matched to funds provided to these important organizations.
Sponsored by Comcast, in partnership with the San Francisco Bay Times and The Academy SF.
