Castro Art Walk & Opening of "Subject Object Setting"

The Academy is proud to participate once again in Castro Art Walk, a monthly event every first Friday that brings the artistic spirit of the Castro neighborhood to life. This month is the premiere of Subject Object Setting, our new showcase curated by Baylee Lewis Van.

Castro Art Walk is open to the public. The exhibit is on The Academy's Main Floor (other areas of the club are reserved for members & guests only).

ABOUT THE SHOW

Curated by Baylee Lewis Van, Subject Object Setting showcases “The New Still Life.” A new take on an old artistic tradition, the artists use objects, settings, and the placement of the object within the setting to create emotional intimacy and narrative. Subject Object Setting innovates the form of the Still Life by depicting non-traditional subjects or depicting subjects in non-traditional compositions and mediums. Subject Object Setting celebrates the beauty of the world around us, and what the things we choose to surround ourselves with says about us.
